Planning the Perfect Bachelorette Party in Austin

It’s no wonder Austin, Texas is a hotspot for bachelorette parties these days. This city explodes with culture and really offers a bit of everything: a great bar scene, plenty of live music, and tons of outdoor exploration. It can be overwhelming to plan a bachelorette party, especially for a large group with different interests. We’ve put together all the things we love about this city to help make planning a bachelorette party in Austin a little easier, and hopefully even make it fun.

Where to Stay

No area of Austin lacks character, which is to say you really can’t go wrong when choosing a neighborhood for your bachelorette weekend. You may want to consider renting a house if your party is large. From lakeside mansions to in-town bungalows, Austin has all kinds of homes and villas for rent that offer plenty of amenities for your group to spread out and enjoy the weekend. For smaller parties, we’d recommend a fun hotel walkable to bars, restaurants, and shopping.

South Congress Street offers hip boutiques, ample live music, and a great view of the Texas State Capitol. The South Congress Hotel is a favorite of locals and visitors alike, featuring a rooftop pool, multiple restaurants onsite, as well as a juice and coffee shop. Hotel Ella also resides nearby. An Austin icon, Hotel Ella is named for a historic Texas socialite, Ella Wooten, who lived in the mansion in the 1800s. Today, Hotel Ella is the perfect mix of old charm wraparound verandas and new comfort courtyard pools.

If downtown is more your scene, we love the Proper Hotel for a bachelorette party in Austin. It’s a bit of east coast chic with southwest inspiration, complete with signature dining experiences, multiple cocktail bars, a fifth-floor pool and just 24 guest suites for a boutique hotel experience. You also can’t miss the Fairmont Austin, stretching 37 stories into the sky. Located near popular Rainey Street, the Fairmont offers total luxury with classic Texas vibes for you and your party.

What to Do

The weather stays rather mild all year, but summer months reach temperatures in the 90’s. To beat the heat, grab a towel and head to Lake Travis. Consider chartering a party pontoon or yacht for up to 20 people (some with top decks and water slides!) and a driver to ensure your party stays safe on the water. Your group could also pack a cooler and swim all day at one of Austin’s many natural pools, like Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. There’s also the Lonestar Riverboat for daytime or sunset cruises.

Live music is rampant in Austin. Swing by Antone’s or the legendary Continental Club to watch local performers do what they do best: entertain! Austin also offers many live music pub crawls, pedal bars and walking tours if that suits your group. We’d also recommend shopping on Music Lane for vintage stores and unique boutiques.

Where to Eat & Drink

You can’t celebrate all weekend without the perfect food and drink lineup. To start the day, grab coffee from Revival, a locally owned shop where everything is pink. Then, don’t miss your reservation for brunch at Irene’s! Irene’s is a classic Austin spot that offers a special package for bachelorette parties, including a reserved table, popcorn, jello shots and dessert for less than $20 a person.

After you’ve enjoyed Austin for the day and are ready for something refreshing, have a drink on the roof at 77 Degrees, a three-story patio bar that also offers tapas. If you’re planning on dinner for a big group, we recommend arranging a private room ahead of time. Il Brutto is a neighborhood Italian restaurant with plenty of options for small and large groups, like a private wine bar and large backyard patio. Enjoy their house limoncello and affordable private dining options. Or, if Italian doesn’t hit the spot, head over to Comedor for upscale Mexican food, served family style.

Now that you and your party have fueled up for the night, we recommend starting the party on Rainey Street or West 6th Street. You won’t have any trouble finding lively spots for music, drinks, and dancing. You’ll probably find other bachelorette and bachelor parties, too! To find the best spot for your crew, keep in mind that Rainey Street is known for being a bit more laid back than 6th Street, but a good time can be found anywhere in Austin. Oh, and if late night dancing is your thing, consider Barbarella or The White Horse after 10PM for a true Texas dance hall experience.

6 Best Islands in French Polynesia

6 best islands in french polynesia

Photo: Zocha Group – 6 Best Islands in French Polynesia

The Best Islands in French Polynesia

There are over 130 islands in French Polynesia, and each one offers something special to visitors looking for rich culture, natural beauty, and a relaxing adventure. Overwater bungalows and clear blue water probably come to mind when you think of these islands, and though that’s an accurate image, there’s much more to explore as you plan your trip. Get started today by checking out our top 6 best islands in French Polynesia.

the best islands in french polynesia

      Photo: Zocha Group

      Maupiti

Speaking of overwater bungalows, you won’t find them in Maupiti. This island is committed to maintaining an authentic, local vibe, making it a perfect destination for those looking for the beauty of Bora Bora without any fussy tourist traps. Accommodations in Maupiti are unique; the sole options are family-operated guest houses and pensions. Owners of these local stays offer meals and excursions to guests, or you can opt for a “self-catering” guest house in which hosts ensure you have ingredients to prepare meals yourself. Book your lodgings well in advance as Maupiti is gaining popularity, but not expanding their hospitality capacity in order to keep the island quiet. Rest assured that anywhere you stay in Maupiti will allow for easy access to beautiful, untouched beaches and wildlife.

      Tetiaroa

Tetiaroa is arguably one of the most remote habitable islands on Earth. Known for being Marlon Brando’s private island, there’s only one place the public is able to stay on Tetiaroa: The Brando. The Brando aims to be the most luxurious eco-friendly resort in the world, offering a true next-level experience for visitors looking for an exclusive trip to French Polynesia. In fact, the only way to get to Tetiaroa is via The Brando’s private airplane, and once you arrive, you’ll experience service like no other. Think beachside bungalows with private pools and three-times-a-day service, food delivered to your door, bikes for every member of your party and more. The Brando is part of an atoll made of several islands. The only structure in Tetiaroa is the resort, and all other islands consist of bird sanctuaries and untouched wildlife.

      Rurutu

Located among the Austral Islands of French Polynesia, Rurutu is known as a refuge for whales. July to October is the best time to visit for humpback whale sightings as they migrate to Rurutu to give birth in warmer water. We highly recommend taking a boat tour and going snorkeling for a chance to see and even swim with the whales! Rurutu also has many limestone cliffs and caves for exploration. Similar to Maupiti, lodging in Rurutu is largely local guesthouses with one hotel offering beach bungalows. The plus side to a guest house is that you’ll have a local guide to show you everything the island has to offer.

      Huahine

Huahine is also known as the “Garden of Eden” because of its untouched nature. Part of the Society Islands in French Polynesia, Huahine is one of the quietest, least populated islands in this cluster. It’s only a 30-minute flight from Tahiti and Bora Bora, making it super central to more well-known French Polynesian destinations. The coolest part of Huahine is that it was a favorite site of royal families in history, and now there are tons of ancient ruins and religious sites that are free and accessible for explorers like you. There are beautiful beaches, volcanoes, and vanilla bean plantations, but don’t forget to look for the sacred blue-eyed eels who swim the rivers in Huahine.

      Fakarava

We’ve heard it called “The End of the World” and “The Island of Dreams,” but no matter its title, Fakarava remains one of the best islands in French Polynesia because of its unique pink sand and clear waters. Part of the Tuamotu Atolls, Fakarava is one of the top diving destinations in the world as many exotic species enjoy natural refuge here. The locals in Fakarava are passionate about conserving the natural beauty, biodiversity, and resources of the region, so you’re sure to find kind people and beautiful sights at every turn.

      Tahiti

This one may seem obvious, but Tahiti is often seen as a hub to get elsewhere in French Polynesia instead of a destination in itself. The largest island in French Polynesia, Tahiti offers one of the only city experiences in the form of its capital, Papeete. Because of the French influence, Papeete shares similarities with many cities in the south of France, with quaint seaside buildings, outdoor markets, and versatile, delicious food options. Tahiti also has more accommodation options than the smaller islands, offering similar luxury stays to an island like Bora Bora. If you (somehow) tire of the untouched beaches and remote wildlife of the lesser known islands, a few days in Tahiti (especially near Papeete) can be a refreshing change of pace.

        Ocracoke Island – North Carolina

North Carolina’s Outer Banks have been the backdrop of many beachside movies and T.V. shows. There’s no bridge to Ocracoke Island, so you’ll have to load your car onto the ferry and prepare to enjoy a secluded paradise. Ocracoke prides itself on laid back culture, untouched beaches (really—there are no oceanfront properties!), and quaint village feel.

        St. George Island – Florida

This barrier island in Florida’s panhandle offers 22 miles of natural beauty and quiet island living. Watch wildlife from untouched marshes, visit the island lighthouse, and spend your days shelling and sunbathing. You won’t find any highrises here, but we recommend a pleasant beach cottage or room at one of the island’s two inns.

        Coronado Island – California

Coronado Island is a true west coast fairytale. The legendary Hotel del Coronado stretches along the beach, offering prime lodgings for luxury beachgoers. Choose your own stretch of white sand to watch surfers and enjoy the sun and San Diego skyline views. There’s also the Coronado Dog Beach nearby!

        Cape Cod – Massachusetts

Go whale watching and seal spotting in Cape Cod. You could spend weeks soaking up Cape Cod’s east coast charm, and there are tons of beaches to choose from. Our favorites are Nauset Beach, Marconi Beach, and Herring Cove.

        Poipu Beach – Hawaii

Named America’s Best Beach by the Travel Channel, Poipu Beach on Kauai is a hotspot for snorkeling, surfing, and floating on blue water. There are technically two beaches on Poipu, and one has lots of wading pools that families will enjoy.

        Cumberland Island – Georgia

Only accessible by ferry, this barrier island is a hotspot for hunting shark teeth and beautiful shells. There are no human residents on Cumberland Island, but visitors are invited to admire wild horses from afar and explore remnants of the old Carnegie mansion. Camping is the only overnight accommodation, but we recommend daytripping from nearby (and also beautiful!) Fernandina Beach.

        Nantucket – Massachusetts

Nantucket sets the scene of all of your beach romance novel dreams. Stroll around the picturesque village, stay at a historic B&B, and pack a picnic to watch the sunset on one of Nantucket’s fantastic beaches. We love Madaket for soft sand and a chance at seeing seals.

        Cannon Beach – Oregon

Just 90 minutes from bustling Portland, Cannon Beach boasts mossy rocks, picturesque cliffs, and lots of wildlife—like tufted puffins who hang out on Haystack Rock! The town nearby is known for a great art scene, wonderful cocktails, and luxury lodgings.

        Kennebunkport – Maine

Beach towns don’t get much more quaint than Kennebunkport. Visit Goose Rocks Beach to soak up the sun or take a kayak tour around Porpoise Cove. We also recommend a whale watching tour before retiring to your oceanside resort or charming bed and breakfast.

        Coopers Beach – New York

They say it’s one of the best beaches in the Hamptons, and we have to agree. Cooper’s Beach is a city dweller’s dream escape, and a quintessential spot to visit if it’s your first time in the area. You’ll share the beach with other sunbathers, but it’s not a rowdy spot. Take a stroll in the sand and relax in the water before heading into town for fresh seafood.

Explore the Best River Cruises Around the World

If seeing the world on the water sounds good to you, there’s no better way to do it than by river cruise. Unlike major cruise ships that sail on the ocean, river cruises are usually smaller and geared to a more personal, destination-focused experience. There are river cruises all over the world, from the Seine to the Nile! Here are a few of our favorites.

the best river cruises in the world

Photo: Zocha Group – The Best River Cruises in the World

            Nile River Cruise

Ancient Egyptians believed the Nile River to be a gift from the gods. Today, travelers from all over flock to visit incredible sights and cities along the longest river in the world. There are a few Nile River cruises on the market, but we suggest the Oberoi Zahra or AmaDahlia. On board the Oberoi Zahra, you’ll have a classic, high-end sail along the Nile. There’s a 24-hour cigar lounge, multilingual Egyptologists onboard, and a fine dining menu that changes daily. Voted Africa’s Best River Cruise in 2021, the Oberoi Zahra takes you to temples and gardens from Aswan to Luxor.

The AmaDahlia, from AmaWaterways, features fresh, fun interior, marble bathrooms, and a pool on the topmost sundeck. With a hair and nail salon on board and just 16 suites, this ship puts your satisfaction at the center. Spend three days in Cairo before heading out on the river to enjoy exclusive excursions like a visit to the tomb of Queen Nefertari.

            Europe River Cruise

AmaWaterways also offers a selection of luxury European river cruises. At the top of our must-sail list is the Taste of Bordeaux tour which takes you on a tour of the wine capital of France. Cruise along Bordeaux visiting legendary chateaus and vineyards and enjoying fine French food and wine. We also love the Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps tour which sails along the Rhine River to visit France, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Or, if Southeastern Europe calls, take the Gems of Southeast Europe AmaWaterways sail to Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Romania.

If you want to take a river cruise over the holidays, we recommend Uniworld River Cruises. Spend eight days cruising from Nuremberg to Vienna to visit Europe’s best holiday markets, or simply enjoy the magic of eastern Europe in the wintertime. Of course, Uniworld sails year-round, too, across Italy, Amsterdam and beyond. No matter when or where you sail, you’re guaranteed to have a top-notch experience on this floating boutique hotel.

            India River Cruise

Sail from New Delhi to Kolkata on a luxurious Uniworld river boat. Uniworld is consistently named among the most elite river cruise lines in the world for their attention to detail from the decor in your room to your adventure itinerary. Exploring India’s Golden Triangle (Delhi, Jaipur and Agra) with Uniworld takes you down the sacred Ganges River. You’ll see the Taj Mahal, Jaipur’s Pink City, and the Mahatma Gandhi memorial, just to name a few highlights.

Uniworld’s India cruise puts a special emphasis on health and wellness. The ship even has a resident yogi to lead yoga classes for all levels, plus group lectures and private meetings for guests to deepen their appreciation for the ancient tradition of yoga. Also included in the complimentary Wellness Program is a special menu of organic food curated for your peak nutrition. All of this paired with floor-to-ceiling glass doors and a hand-painted mural in every suite are sure to leave you feeling relaxed on the river.

Plan a Dream Honeymoon in Turks & Caicos

Getting married is one of the most exciting seasons of life, but planning a wedding can also be stressful and challenging. That’s why your honeymoon should be a time to truly unwind and enjoy uninterrupted time with the person you love. Turks and Caicos is one of our favorite honeymoon destinations because of its tranquility, beauty, and wide array of options for lodgings and activities. It’s also a relatively easy tropical destination to fly into and out of. If you’re planning for a honeymoon in Turks and Caicos, here are some of our top recommendations.

              ─ Where to Stay – Resorts ─

              Amanyara

Unique and tranquil, Amanyara is easily one of the top luxury resorts in the area. It’s eco-friendly and perfect for the couple who plans to stay at the resort full-time instead of adventuring around the islands.

              COMO Parrot Cay

Located on the private island of Parrot Cay, it doesn’t get much more intimate than COMO. Villas and houses have their own pools, while suites and rooms offer priceless ocean views.

              Wymara Resort & Villas

This 5-star resort is set on the picturesque Grace Bay beach, but it’s also close to town for couples who want to explore. If not, take advantage of Wymara’s luxury spa and trademark dining options.

              Grace Bay

The Grace Bay Resort is a true icon in Turks and Caicos. The oldest resort on the islands, Grace Bay began as an exclusive boutique hotel and has now expanded into three resorts to become the lively and luxurious fixture we know today.

              Seven Stars

Seven Stars is for the couple who wants a bit of everything. It’s pure luxury and relaxation with white-glove service, amazing wellness offerings and exquisite dining options, but there are also plenty of opportunities for fun and exploration.

              ─ Where to Stay – Villas ─

              Sentosa

For the couple who never wants the wedding festivities to end, there’s no better choice than the Sentosa villa. With eight bedrooms, we’d recommend booking a smaller stay for a couple of nights as newlyweds, and then moving over to Sentosa with family and friends to keep the party going. Enjoy an in-house gym, luxury infinity pool, and 1.4 acres of your very own beachfront paradise.

              Beach Kandi

This sleek, modern villa offers two bedrooms and a pool that steps right out onto the beach. Huge windows in every room make it feel like you never miss a moment in the sun. Like every villa on our list, Beach Kandi also includes a 24-hour concierge service (think: chef, housekeeper, and butler) so you’ll want for absolutely nothing.

              Sugar Kube

Sugar Kube is a true tropical oasis for two. This one-bedroom villa is the right balance of cozy, modern, and luxurious. Enjoy a cocktail on the upstairs patio lounge and read a book on a daybed by the perfectly sized pool. You’ll be in your own little world.

              Beach Shack

Don’t let the name fool you—this is no shack. Having undergone recent renovations, the Beach Shack’s interior is fresh and bohemian with wood-paneled ceilings and stone walls. Enjoy privacy in what feels like a private cove and relax knowing you don’t have to lift a finger.

              Beach Cake

The Beach Cake is an architectural wonder. This 3-bedroom “upside down house” features the pool and main living spaces on the second floor. It’s also walking distance to some fun dinner spots for the couple who loves to explore. During the day or to stargaze at night, enjoy a sun deck on the very top floor, an amazing outdoor bath and shower, and a view of the ocean no matter where you choose to lounge.

              ─ Bars & Restaurants ─

              Coco Bistro

Located within walking distance from many resorts in the Grace Bay area, Coco Bistro strikes the perfect balance between local fare and luxury cuisine. Enjoy tuna tartare, West Indian shrimp curry, and a full list of wine from around the world.

              Coyaba

Coyaba makes sure that any given night on your honeymoon is a special event. Offering fine dining in Turks and Caicos for over twenty years, this spot is a fixture for seasonal menus and ever changing nightly specials.

              Ifiniti at Grace Bay Club

As the premier oceanfront restaurant and raw bar in Providenciales, you can’t get fresher or finer fare than Infiniti at Grace Bay Club. The ambience is romantic and tropical, and we recommend stopping at Infiniti bar (the longest bar in the Caribbean!) for a drink before dinner.

              Sui Ren at Shore Club

There’s nothing like sushi by the ocean. Using the freshest ingredients possible, Sui Ren takes a unique approach to sushi, bringing Peruvian and Japanese influence to the table. Located inside the Shore Club, your meal at Sui Ren will have a beautiful backdrop.

              Provence

If you’re in the mood for something different, Provence is your spot. With a mix of French and Italian inspiration, this is a fine dining experience you can enjoy at the chef’s table, in the dining room, or outside on the patio.

              Bay Bistro

Located inside the beautiful Sibonné Beach Hotel, Bay Bistro is a nice yet low-key spot to enjoy a meal by the water. Stop in for brunch, lunch, dinner or a drink!

              Mudjin

Located on Middle Caicos, Mudjin Harbor is known for being one of the most beautiful beaches in Turks and Caicos. Naturally, Mudjin Bar & Grill offers the best view of the blue water and white sand. It’s a little off the beaten path, but worth it for a cocktail in paradise.

              Da Conch Shack

If you’re visiting Turks and Caicos, this laid back restaurant is a must-visit spot for conch prepared in all kinds of ways. Plus, the rum bar gets busy later at night if you’re in the mood to dance!

              ─ Activities ─

              Yacht Charter

The best way to see Turks and Caicos is by yacht. Many islands make up this stunning destination, and you deserve to see as many of them as possible! We recommend chartering a private or small-group yacht outing for beach hopping from island to island. Some yacht charters also offer off-shore fishing, snorkeling and diving, and even meals and wine on the water.

              Horseback Riding

Long Bay Beach is the best place for horseback riding if you’re looking for a less-developed stretch of beach. Take it slow and allow yourself to be led to the islands’ most beautiful sights from the back of a horse—no previous riding experience necessary!

              Enjoy Nature

Visit Salt Cay for a good chance at seeing whales, and even hearing their songs! You’ll also spot wild donkeys on Salt Cay. Taking a trip to North Caicos is a good way to see dolphins, and we also highly recommend snorkeling off any island.

              Golf, Tennis & Watersports

Turks and Caicos is the right destination for the couple who loves to stay active. There are beautiful golf courses open to guests, including the award-winning Royal Turks and Caicos Golf Club on Grace Bay. There are also tennis courts with lessons available so you can learn something new together. We also recommend kitesurfing, waterskiing, and even simply swimming in crystal clear waters.

              Hands-on Exploration

Take a pair of jet skis for a spin, go kayaking on calm waters, or see Turks and Caicos from a parasail! You could also consider renting a Jeep or 4×4 to see areas of the islands that are closed off to most. No matter your mode of transportation, there’s so much to see in Turks and Caicos!

Our Guide to the Ultimate Thailand Travel Experience

Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple or with a group, Thailand is every adventurer’s dream. The people are friendly, the islands rival even those in French Polynesia, and there are centuries of historical landmarks and ornate temples to explore. With so much diverse appeal, it can be hard to map out the perfect Thailand itinerary. Here are some of our favorite destinations for Thailand travel, organized by what’s most important to you!

Travel tip: Thailand’s dry season (and therefore peak time for tourism) is November to April. However, travel is more affordable during the wet season, and is typically still pleasant as rain tends to fall off and on through the day.

                ─ Culture & History ─

                Ubon Ratchathani

Often referred to as simply “Ubon,” this city is known for its many beautiful temples. In July, Ubon holds the popular Candle Festival, marking the beginning of the rainy season and beginning of Buddhist Lent, in which monks retreat to temples for three months of meditation. During this ceremony and celebration, incredible handmade candles are paraded through town along with two days of food, dance, theater and more local fun.

                Sukhothai

Sukhothai was the country’s very first capital back when Thailand was known as Siam. Many regard this city as a time capsule for the golden ages of Thai civilization. History buffs will enjoy archaeological sites and museums from the 13th and 14th centuries. A true marker of Thai origins, Sukhothai means “the dawn of happiness.”

                Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi is a popular day trip from Bangkok as it’s only a two-hour drive from the city, or a great stopover on your way to destinations in northern Thailand. A popular resort town, here you’ll find lots of lovely hiking, waterfalls, and riverside restaurants. Kanchanaburi is also rich with World War II history, serving as the site of the historic Bridge Over the River Kwai as well as many war museums and cemeteries.

                Ayutthaya

In the 1700’s, Ayutthaya was considered the largest city in the world having served as the capital of Thailand (then known as Siam) from about 1350 to 1767. Located near Bangkok, Ayutthaya is rich with historical ruins now, making it a perfect place to get a feel for Thai culture of the past and present. Don’t forget to visit the floating market while you’re in town.

Travel tip: Pack modest clothing that covers your elbows and knees if you want to go inside temples.

                ─ Cities & Nightlife ─

                Bangkok

The beating heart of Thailand, you’ll find soaring skyscrapers and diverse people always on the move in bustling Bangkok. Sleep in a state-of-the-art luxury lodging, enjoy incredible Thai (and global) cuisine, shop at many local markets, and stay out all night on Khao San Road.

                Pattaya

Though efforts have been made in recent years to clean up the beach and offer family-friendly resorts, Pattaya is known around the world for its wild nightlife scene. Think 24-hour clubs, cabaret shows, and some of the best bars in Thailand. If partying all night isn’t your thing, there are some rooftop cocktail bars and quieter nightlife neighborhoods in the city, too. A two-hour drive from Bangkok, Pattaya is a weekend destination for tourists and locals alike.

                Phuket

As the largest and most prosperous province, Phuket is a popular Thailand travel destination for super fun nightlife, great resorts, lots of history and beautiful sites. If you need a break from city life, we recommend taking a day trip to Surin Islands, the group of islands that make up Mu Ko Surin National Park where you can rent a boat, snorkel, or visit the local village inhabited by the Moken peoples, known as the people of the sea.

                Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is a laid back city that was made for wanderers. After a few days of exploring Thailand with a packed itinerary, come to Chiang Mai to relax with Thai massages, local street food, and over 300 beautiful temples. Chiang Mai also has tiger and elephant sanctuaries for you to enjoy the wildlife of Thailand in a respectful way.

Travel tip: It’s okay to be a tourist! Guided tours are a great way to learn about local food, art, history, and culture.

                ─ Beaches & Nature ─

Surat Thani, often called Surat, is the gateway to some of Thailand’s most popular islands. Surat has fantastic night markets and restaurants for you to visit before you head over to a neighboring island. Enjoy a luxury spa treatment on Koh Samui, attend the legendary monthly Full Moon Party on Koh Pha-Nngan, and snorkel over stunning coral reefs in Koh Tao.

Thailand’s first beach resort was resurrected in Hua Hin after royals began visiting in 1920. Hua Hin is careful not to overdevelop and remains a calm respite from the hustle and bustle from nearby Bangkok. Come to Hua Hin to enjoy your own stretch of beach, beautiful golf courses, and great seafood restaurants.

                Ko Kradan

Ko Kradan has no roads, no cars, and no villages. Here, you’ll only find blissful beach resorts and the Hat Chao Mai National Park that helps to limit development. Day-trippers visit the island during the day, but if you choose to stay overnight you’ll be spoiled by having one of the most beautiful beaches in the world all to yourself.

                Ko Phayam

Ko Phayam is equally as relatively underdeveloped as Ko Kradan with just 500 residents, though there are a few more dining options. This island offers activities like surfing, yoga, biking, and hiking. Only a 45-minute boat ride from Bangkok, Ko Phayam is well worth the day trip to explore yet another fantastic Thailand travel paradise.

The Perks of Investing in Experiences Instead of Things

Photo: Zocha Group – The Perks of Investing in Experiences Instead of Things

                  Invest in Experiences

In recent years, trends in consumer spending have leaned away from products and more towards experiences. Instead of investing in objects that may lose value with changing technology and styles, consumers are beginning to see the benefits of experiencing an exciting activity or new destination in interesting and unique ways. Taking another look at the benefits of investing in experiences that can make the most of your paycheck while allowing you to enjoy the variety of adventures the world has to offer.

                  Escapism

In a fast-paced, modern world where many are never officially off the clock, it’s easy to make work a priority and put quality time with friends and loved ones to the side. Taking the time to experience something outside of the ordinary, day-to-day routine can give you a much-needed break. Indulging in a vacation may not be a wise choice if done too often, but setting aside some time to relax after working hard can be beneficial in quieting a buzzing world with a refreshing, dreamlike getaway.

Photo: Zocha Group – The Perks of Investing in Experiences Instead of Things

                  Irreplaceability

Whether it’s a new tech gadget, piece of jewelry or clothing trend, there will always be something fresh on the market to make you feel like what you already own isn’t good enough. “Keeping up with the Joneses” makes for a never-ending cycle of replacing items that are obsolete or no longer in style. When you instead direct your spending towards an experience, it won’t ever fall out of fashion or need replacing—the happiness you get from visiting an exciting destination is yours to keep forever.

                  Memories

While opening gifts can be fun, the experience of spending time with loved ones can often be what we remember most. Looking back on meaningful events from the past helps us to define who we are in the present. Having a unique experience creates unforgettable memories that bring us joy when we recall them years later. From energetic nights out on the town to romantic, sunset dinners with significant others, memories are there to become a part of our life story.

                  Personal Growth

Making progress with personal, financial or career goals can help us to feel more value in our day-to-day lives. When you opt for a new experience, you’re choosing to learn more about the world around you and in turn can learn more about yourself. Whether you’re spending a birthday racing Formula 1 cars at the racetrack, riding a donkey along the Greek hillsides, or parasailing in the Bahamas, you are sure learn more about your own likes and dislikes through trying something new. Meeting new people and being inspired by your world will only be beneficial in the long run. The things we experience present challenges for us to learn from helping to shape us into who we are.

The event is organized by Premier Live and Mehow, and in the past seven years has raised more than $3 million for the selected charity beneficiaries. A charity auction that takes place during the week treats guests to an elegant dining experience while they make their bids. One-hundred percent of proceeds are donated to charities like The National Tennis Foundation and several other player charities. The highlight of the week for many is the End of the World Beach Party that occurs after the charity auction. Past years have seen performances from Jamie Foxx and LMFAO’s Redfoo, Kenny Chesney and more.
