This alluring, cell phone-free destination is already well on its way to becoming one of the most sought out invites in town.

Located in the former space of nightclub Hyde, Offsunset inhabits a location cemented in Los Angeles nightlife history. At its peak, Hyde was known for its exclusivity along with endless paparazzi flashes catching celebrities enter and exit the cozy lounge. With the space having been unoccupied for almost a decade, this new venue hopes to maintain an even more limited guest list to prioritize the privacy of their high profile clientele.

Offsunset has embraced a different approach, with a strict ‘no cell phones’ policy similar to other West Hollywood venues like The Nice Guy and Delilah, who also enforce a ‘no photos’ rule. Co-founders and hospitality veterans Costas Charalambous, Shyon Keoppel, Gunner Safron and Stafford Schlitt aim to create a level of privacy unheard of in the modern Los Angeles nightlife scene.

Inside, the venue boasts a welcoming atmosphere of refinement with plush booth seating, dim lighting, and eclectic artwork throughout. The living room-style ambiance joins together elements of Old Hollywood with contemporary design aesthetics to mesh the old with the new. An unassuming DJ booth is home to rotating entertainment brought to guests by the owners’ musician friends, who are welcome to perform whenever they’d like.

Bottle service is a draw for groups, but the menu of specialty cocktails also adds to the imbibing experience. The Red & Velvet delivers something sweet with flavors of cherry and chocolate, while the Mai Tai Me Up is made with the venue’s signature rum blend. Elevated bar snacks range from Truffle Popcorn, to a Maine Lobster Roll, to a more indulgent Pomme Maxim with caviar.

So what does it take to get invited to this exclusive venue? The “Off” in Offsunset stands for “only friends and family,” with each night’s guest list composed of those with personal relationships to the owners. The highly-curated crowd includes actors, entrepreneurs, models, artists and the like to mix and mingle in the intimate space. Each of the ten booths are open without obstructed views of each other to encourage conversation between parties. Owners also may stop in to facilitate mingling, introducing guests to help forge connections within the talented crowd.
